#1

#1 – Days Gone

PlayStation 4

Days Gone

Days Gone, just recently released exclusively for PlayStation 4 as of April 26th 2019, is an action-adventure survival horror video game that received a lot of anticipation from anxious fans yet ultimately received mixed opinions upon actual release.

Nevertheless Days Gone has quickly become a best seller and aside from minor short-comings in character building and depth of story this is yet another exciting take on a zombie apocalypse that takes place in the Pacific Northwest (Oregon state to be precise).

The main protagonist is a man by the name of Deacon St. John paired with his trusty motorcycle of which can be upgraded via resources collected. Deacon’s sole mission is to reunite with his wife Sarah who was evacuated do to a severe wound taken when attempting to flee the zombie invasion. Deacon and his friend Boomer however are forced to stay behind due to lack of room in the extraction helicopter, leaving them to face the wild and the increasing population of zombies on their own as Sarah is left with nothing more than a promise of them being together once again.

The plot however, only thickens as Deacon does everything in his power to hold true to his promise while making friends, making enemies and figuring out the difference between the two, eliminating anything that stands between him and his end goal. making money doing by fulfilling bounties.

Zombies make up the strongest presence and threat in Days Gone although not referred to as such, instead they are referred to as Freakers sharing similarities with zombies in their decaying form, their mindless/cannibalistic behavior, and viral infection that spreads through bodily fluids including that of animals which prove an equal threat in this game. However, Freakers differ from the typical zombie in their ability to quickly evolve and in being nocturnal with increased speed and agility during nightfall.

A faction who refers to themselves as the Rest in Peace cult (better known as Rippers) welcome and worships the virus outbreak with open arms and consider all who stand against it blasphemous. mutilating those who fall into their hands and also mutilating themselves as well! A real messed up group we’re talking about here both merciless and a threat throughout Deacon’s journey!

#4 – Yoshi’s Crafted World

Yoshi’s Crafted World takes you through many of 2.5Dlevels consisting of artsy craftsy designs with all sorts of artsy craftsy items as an artsy craftsy verion of Yoshi or Yoshis rather on a quest to restore stolen gems which Baby Bowser and his P.I.C Kamek attempted to obtain from the Sundream Stone, a stone with the power to make dreams come true! Cool and unique features can be found in this title as you traverse through creatively imagined level designs that can be played both forward and backwards as you switch your viewpoint from one side to the next in the search for hidden collectibles

#5

Red Dead Redemption II

Red Dead Redemption II is a direct prequel to the hit video game release Red Dead Redemption, serving as the sequel to Red Dead Revolver and it’s long lost predecessor Gun Smoke.

In Red Dead Redemption II take on the role of a Van Der Linde gang member by the name of Arther Morgan and experience his wild western story through a third person shooter presentation.

An engrossing story of friendship and betrayal reflecting that of an outlaw’s life during that time period in history is illustrated exceptionally well in shoot-em up action, bank robberies, gang wars, and end-game altering decisions that will lead you right up to the start of the first Red Dead Redemption game

#6

Spider-Man

Spider-Man swings right into the gaming industry once again in this latest 2018 release that actually did exceptionally well

Spider-Man is a third person open world action-adventure located in a fictionalized version of New York where you play the role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man equipped with all the favorite moves, maneuvers, acrobatics, and abilities along with the gadget/web/physical combat from previous installments.

The plot revolves around the main antagonist, Mr. Negative who seizes leadership of the criminal underworld and threatens New York City with a deadly virus. Spider-Man’s work is certainly cut out for him as he progresses his way to the ever growing threat while maintaining his personal life as Peter Parker

#7

New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe

New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe is an impressive revisit to an excellent game released initially for the Wii U (hence the reason for the “U” in it’s title. Deluxe was the addition to the title upon it’s release to the Switch as a way of signifying it’s totality in all bonus content included from the original release. Certainly a step in the right direction for Nintendo as the sales for the Switch trumped the Wii U ten fold which in turn made this great game accessible to a much larger audience.

In Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, play as one of five characters, either Mario, Luigi, Toad, Nabbit, or the all new Toadette who enters the scene for the first time in this Mario title specifically with the exclusive ability to transform into Peachette upon obtaining a Super Crown which is also new item exclusive to the Deluxe version of this title as well!

The dynamic of the quest itself takes a 180 in it’s direction as you will be working your way through eight different worlds towards Peach Castle instead of the normal progression leading to Bowsers Castle. It seems Bowser has advanced to total domination tactics instead of kidnapping! Bowser isn’t alone in this mischief, All Bowser’s Children including Bowser Jr, and Kamek are in on it too.

#8

Grand Theft Auto Five (GTA V)

Grand Theft Auto V is an open world sandbox game based in the fictionalized Blaine county, Los Santos. Following suit with previous installments of the ever popular series where you take on the role of some thug or other interacting and participating with the criminal underworld getting deeply entangled in all the hell it has to offer with rival gangs and the law being the greatest threat while your freedom is your greatest reward with multiple choice keeping it interesting! Break the law on countless different levels, rob banks, mow down pedestrians, speed, hit and runs, pop off any civilian or criminal you feel like, operate a vast selection of vehicles, escape the law, evade pursuit, fire back at the law, and as usual, do just about whatever you please. Play like myself and yourself having so much fun messing around you forget the plot or purpose of the entire game.

#9

God of War

God of War took a whole new turn in this thrilling title released in April last year (2018) as the eighth installment to the series at large and direct sequel to God of War III which we seen released for the Play Station 3 way back in 2010!

Play as Kratos yet again, yet unlike the Greek God of War we know so well but instead a re-imagined father figure of ancient Norway. Follow him and his son Atreus… wait what? Kratos has a son?!? according to this release he sure does (born to him by a mother of whose identity awaits revealing). You and Atreus is tasked with the journey to the highest peek to spread her ashes as she is now deceased.

With a shift from the typical Greek mythology presence to that of Norse, and a relocation that places Kratos in Midgard of ancient Norway with a mountain man appearance (directly speaking of his beard and his new weapon of choice, the magical battle axe.) It’s certainly a whole new experience for the franchise that introduces new gaming elements to the series such as role playing features and co-operative strategies via Atreus. Visually we see new enemies including the “larger-than-life,” new weapons, new skills, and a whole new world to explore that is significantly “out of Kratos’ element” to say the least!

#10

Kingdom Hearts III

Kingdom Hearts III is an action RPG collaboration with Disney and Final Fantasy which is solely developed and published by Square Enix who brought us the Final Fantasy series. Serving as the direct sequel to Kingdom Hearts II although being the twelfth release in the entire series.

Kindom Hearts III puts the player in control of the character Sora, a young youth of Final Fantasy origin who is accompanied by Donald Duck, Goofy, King Mickey, and Riku who, together attempt to prevent the threat of a second Keyblade war brought upon them by Xenohanort. In order to success in this endeavor the team will have to seek out the seven guardians of light.

Game-play inherits the series standard hack and slash combat mechanics although in this game there is the ability to have a larger party than seen in previous installments with execution of synchronized attacks and amp’d up action!

These two children are thrust into a fight for survival as they enter into the Inquisition of the Hundred Years War lead by Vitalis and rats who carries the black death as was a common threat in this era.

Amicia and her younger brother however, manage to find a way to manipulate the rats via the light from which they disperse from and the dark of which they reside in, commanding their actions and diverting them with the use of fire. This leads to many strategic scenarios, situations, and floor plans where the conducting of rats via light determines the success in overtaking enemies and progressing levels.

It’s you against the world, or whatever is left of the place after the asteroid hit it. It’s up to you to establish your own form of order by whatever means possible. Blow sh** up, shoot sh** up, tear sh** up or do it all from within one of many different vehicles in all out vehicular combat.

Trover Saves The Universe – May 31st 2019

PlayStation 4 / PlayStation VR

Trover Saves The Universe is an absolutely hilarious video game with Adult Swim type humor riddled with excessive profanity!

Play as this purple dude named Trover most commonly referred to as a cucumber, having eye sockets occupied by little dudes called power babies that seem to have a source of control and sight on Trover. really an in-explainable concept but awesome in it’s own right.

Apparently you, the player owned two dogs that a big monster smashed into his eye sockets and is now using them to reek havoc on the world. Seeing as you are partially responsible for the catastrophe in your neglect of keeping you dogs in check, it becomes your job to put an end to the newly found threat and ultimately (hopefully) rescue your puppies! In this game there is no telling what will happen in this unpredictable tale but honestly, the plot hardly matters near as much as the comedy! I’m confident that this imaginative, haphazard, randomly thought up adventure will keep you laughing from beginning to end!
